BOTANICAL EXTRACTS
In the extraction practice for preparations of botanical origin, the constituents of interest are completely or
partially separated from other components with the aid of water, alcohol or alcohol-water mixtures.
This extraction process involves the removal of the desired constituents from the plant matter with suitable
menstrua and the low temperature evaporation of all or nearly all of the solvent.
Extracts may be defined as preparations with liquid, solid, or semisolid consistency. The products
obtained by extraction are fluidextracts and tinctures, powdered extracts and semisolid extracts.
Physically, Scientific Botanicals' Native Extracts are Semisolid Extracts with no added carriers or diluents.
